We thought we would start this page especially as there are current issues (2009) with regard to the possible closures of local Post offices. A lot of the community are talking about this and many are remembering  about how the Post Office was last century. Any content or photographs that we can use
( we simply scan them and you keep the originals ) would be greatly appreciated.

This photograph sent by Margaret Davison shows Mary Holdcroft (Postwoman around 1910). Mary delivered post in the West Boldon area.

In those days local post was marked "local" and did not have a postcode.
