RETURNS OF BIRTHS AND DEATHS.
During the four weeks ended 24th March 1962, 20 deaths and 23 births were registered as belonging to this area. This gives a death rate of 11.4 per 1,000 population and a birth rate of 13.1 per 1000 population.
INFECTIOUS DISEASE.
There were four notifications of infectious disease received.
PESTS ACT, 1949
32 visits were made and 7 private houses were successfully treated.
SEWER FLUSHING
Routine flushing and cleansing of cesspools has been carried out in the district during the month.

REFUSE WAGONS AND OTHER MOTOR VEHICLES.
The Councils Motor Mechanic has been on sick leave and any neccessary repairs required to the Councils motor vehicles have been done by Station Garage, East Boldon.
DIRTY MONEY
Workmen ask for Dirty Money whilst working on fireplace conversions ........
Bricklayers, labourers and plumbers engaged on replacing fireplaces in the 1922 Act houses, be paid an extra 1/4d. per fireplace per man retrospective from 12th March 1962.
