Edward Emsley

I wonder if you can help please.? I work in central London and live in Hertfordshire. My father, Edward Emsley, moved south to find work in the mid 1930s with his parents. I am keen to discover everything that I can about Boldon Colliery when he was a lad. He lived in Toppings Street although I seem to recall it was Toppings way or something like that when he was young. He died aged only 61 in 1979 and I would love to find out about his youth and school and football club and so forth. He took me to the mine in 1971, I think. He loved Sunderland and felt a real pull but went back only once when we visited as a holiday that year. He talked much of the Burn and even had a pressed flower from it in his wallet at the time of his death.
With kind regards and best wishes
Brian Emsley
